It’s who I follow on Twitter that makes it work for me!

I am still working on a Twitter strategy for my business.  I post things every so often on Twitter and those posts are published on my Facebook page.

I have 56 followers, most of whom I believe are real people.  When I get an email telling me that someone is following me, I check to see if they are real and who else they are following.  If they are at all questionable, I block them.

At this time, I only follow 28 people.  Most of these are not even tweeting, so my list of tweets is small.  There are a few people who tweet alot and say little, though I haven’t take the time to unfollow (if that is the term) them.

I’d like to share my favorite three tweeters with you.  @jasonalba, @michaelbenidt, and @dnewman.  Each of these guys tweets regularly and does so with meaningful information that people can actually use.

@michaelbenidt posted just today about Chris Anderson’s new book Free, which I am anxious to read.  The post lead me to a site where I can read the book online for free and also had a free audio book available for download.

Thanks Michael – See you in Phoenix next week.

  1. Thanks so much for the mention. Not at all sure I deserve the recognition, especially since I’m not at all sure I like Twitter as much as it likes me. You mentioned the chore of trying to figure out if your followers are “real” people, and I couldn’t agree more. Today, about 19 in 20 followers are spammers, hucksters or “just can’t wait to take their clothes off.” This percentage has compromised Twitter’s value to the extent that I’m not sure people will stay. I know I wonder if I will.

You’re pretty smart to take it slow and easy on Twitter, Marc.
